help with setting up router to use 2 machines on same modem out

i want to be able to play bf2 agiant my son on the same internet connection useing a linksys router .can anyone help me figure out how to do this thanks

You need 2 copies of the game first off.

Secondly, you need to setup the router. Pretty easy to do (atleast for me).

1) Turn off all computers.

2) Unplug cable modem/DSL modem from computer

3) Plug router into power, and plus modem into router under "Internet"

4) Plug both computers into the router.

5) bring up the config panel for the router by using Internet Explorer and typing it "192.168.1.1" into the address bar. Your Username is blank, your password is admin (unless you have changed it).

6) Log back out of the router config. page. Bring up a regular website to make sure it worked.

7) Frag the hell out of your son.

Hehe, been trying for 2 days now to get two winblows machines to communicate properly :) no such luck for me hehehe

Try installing the NetBIOS/IPX protocol.

Make sure both computers are running the same version/service pack of Windows.
Are you having problems getting on the Internet, or problems getting the internal network working (i.e. sharing files, printers etc)?

A thing to try is the Network Setup Wizard from Control Panel -> Network Connections.

Well this is not really BF2 related but since you asked 2 machines, 1 running winblows xp pro sp 2 and one running xp home sp 2, internet access works for both, the pro machine can access the home machine but not the other way around plus on the home machine I cant install any video drivers because i need to install a standard VGA driver first wtf And of course I had to physically remove my soundcard for the videocard to even be recognized. Tried the wizards already, those wizards suck.
