what u think is reasonable for a gaming pc?

I'm thinking of getting a X2 3800 and a asus sli board, 7800GTx, 1 gig ram, 80 gig hd, case w/window/temp meter and 420 watt power supply, and xp home. I was just wondering if 1400 is a good price for this setup? It's coming from cyberpowerinc.com. O yea they also give me two free full games hl2 an bet on soldier and 3 year limited warranty.

My other question is if the 430 watt powersupply is enough to support my components espically the 7800GTX?\

I would reccomend getting a comparable single core cpu and 2gb of memory.

The asus board is good, but I'd check into the DFI if you're interested.

Read up on some benchmarks and make sure to get 2x1gb sticks of memory.

The minimum power supply is something like 500w for SLI, so if you're getting an SLI board and you think you might get a second card sometimes down the road.. I suggest you get a good 500w or more PSU.

Yes, 1400 is a pretty good price. Whether or not you have enough power depends on the quality of the PSU and the amperage on the 12v rail. The wattage is a terrible indicator of what you'll really get. Pertaining to your second question, 500 is alot for a 7800gtx, but if you're thinking of ATI then don't get an SLI mobo as ATi doesn't support SLi.

Another 1gb would help here in Battlefield 2. 7800GTX requires I think 24 or 26A on the 12v line and a 450 watt PSU to be safe, according to nVidia specifications.

If you multi-task ALOT (listen to music, rip a CD, folding, photoshop, something really CPU intense while you game), the X2 CPU is a good choice. Otherwise, just get a 3700+ with a 1mb Cache and you should be fine.

That is a good price for what your getting. I would recommend getting a little better power supply and a cheaper single core CPU and another gig of ram, but thats it!

wouldn't a dual core be better for gaming down the road? and I might change my order and get a N7800GT it owns the GTX and has it's own power supply. what u guys think?
