    What to upgrade.....

Hey guys, I realise most of you guys area fed up of reading this kind of post but I'd like some advice, I'm coming into some money soon, and was wondering what I should upgrade on my PC, Current specs are in sig, I Might upgrde my RAM but having a fair few problems with RAM as it is.

I thought of getting a x800XL AGP (don't want to go to PCI-E just yet) or getting a new Proc.? I'm an ATi man, btw, so if you recommend any gpx cards ATi only please :)

I don't know what do you guys suggest?

Get PCI-E if your mobo / PSU supports it, PCI-E doesnt have much bottleneck so its nice n smooth, I have a 7800GT (PCI-E 20 pipelines) and its amazing, so id advise going for a PCI-E based graphics card, whether it be ATI or Nvidia.

The X850XT Platinum is an Imense card, and the prices are dropping now because of the release of the X1800 series, so in my opinion, an X800 or an X850 are the cards to go for :)

dont know much about the athlon xp series but there's a possibilty that with a high end card your CPU may bottleneck a bit

I would say get a new motherboard, with SLI and a new graphics card along with 1GB more of your RAM.

New mobo socket 939 with SLI (example: Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI), AMD 64 3500+ or higher (you can go for a dual core if you have enough money), 7800GT card, 2-72GB Raptor drives (run in RAID 0), 1GB of DDR400 RAM, 550W power supply and case with at least 4 fans.

Of course this will cost a lot of money, but it is a system that you can use for a few years. It should also be easy to build upon/upgrade with the SLI and socket 939.

Definitely depends on your budget. I'd suggest getting over to an Athlon 64 based processor, atleast a 3200+. Now that would require a new mobo and at that point I'd suggest going PCI-E and this leads to needing a new GFX card, which I'd say X800XL PCI-E. If you are 100% sure the RAM is an issue than upgrade it, if not I'd suggest the X800XL AGP as a nice compliment to your existing rig

                  Re: What to upgrade.....

If money is not a big issue, do a overhaul to PCI-E + AMD 64.

If money is a big issue, grabbing either an extra 512mb or 1g to total it to either 1.5gb or 2gb would help BF2 ALOT. Since you got the same CPU and probably same ram setup for 2x512 = 1gb mode, get a extra 512 or 1gb stick and you'll see a difference. This is probably the first area of focus, as BF2 greatly benefits from more RAM.

Video card wise, a X800XL or 6800GT (havent looked on prices though) would also serve you well.

Again, all depends how much you got for a budget.
