Ati x850xxx Crossfire worth it?

What do these cards in crossfire mode match up to the Nvidia cards? or should i wait for the x1800 crossfire card? still thinking of SLi but can wait for actual benchmarks. Thanks!

1 x1800xt or 7800gtx will do justice just fine. Unless you want to run 2xxxX1xxx resolutions tehn you dont realy need it.

It's hard to tell what's better until Crossfire is made more available. Once more vendors put out Crossfire boards and testing can be done it's all speculation. Supposedly the Crossfire is going to be compatible with all games as opposed to SLi, which is not. Also you only have to purchase an Crossfire series card ie. X1800 crossfire will mate with all X1800 boards. With SLi if you went from a 7800gt to a 7800gtx you'd have to buy 2 of each to get SLi.

Yah minus the fact that the cards don't have to be matched, the rendering is combined outside of the computer (aka no resources being used), and there are more options in terms of modes of rendering....

Other then that, it has nothing on SLI.....

The only thing SLI can boast is higher resolutions, but after a certain point its stupid to have higher resolutions.

If not...then scrap the entire concept of SLI/Crossfire.

To bad with the new drivers you can mix cards with sli also. Mixing cards is stupid anyways.

OK, the only crossfire board out right now, is the DFI crossfire board that goes for like 240 bucks on newegg.com. So you have to get that, a regular X800/850/1800 series card (if you don't already have one) as wellas a crossfire edtion X850. THat'll cost you around 600 bucks if you already have a X800/850/1800 series card. IT'll cost about 850-1100 bucks if you don't already have a X800/850/1800 series card. SO i would say for now, to stay away from the crossfire. THe mobo itself is too expensive. I would just get a single X1800XL or something like that. then later when crossfire gets cheaper, get a new mobo and crossfire edition card.
