I swear, nobody has actually answered his question. Ok.

What I think you should do is this: If you're not getting anything for two months, wait until the 7800GTX 512MB is released. That will help to drasticallly drive down the price of the normal GTX. Then I would get that.

Not quite. You have to have cards with the same core. two 7800 GT's clocked at different speeds would work together but not a GT and GTX. The GT has only 20 pipes the GTX has 24 as well as a couple of other minor differences.

      see - http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone2_rel80.html

I certainly wouldnt sell the GT and get a GTX. Theres just no value in doing that . You'd get a maximum of around 10 fps better performance at 1280x1024 and i find that very hard to justify.

My 7800 GT with an A64 3500 and 1 GB 2-2-2-5 OCZ runs perfectly smoothly @ 1280x1024 with 4x AA and 16 AF.
The only problem I have is that when I start a round of BF2 I get around 2 fps for the first 20-25 seconds with alot of disk thrashing then everything speeds up and is fine.

Im guessing its doing alot of cacheing or something which is why i was wondering if another 7800GT might ease the issue due to having a total 512mb video memory or possibley a faster 10000rpm WD raptor drive or an extra GB RAM. I dont really know enough about it - Im in the same boat as you.

Could anyone else make any suggestions as to where the sensible money should be spent ?
