Re: RAID - 0, 1, or not at all?
Jimmy you seem like a smart guy. A little opinonated but smart none the less.
The following are facts not open for dispute.
1. SATA as the heir to the throne of SCSI is a faster data xfer than IDE.
2. The use of raid 0 on its own is not a noticable performance benefit.
However:
Take 2 small fast drives and stripe them. Only load your game and O/S plus essentials.
Stir in 2GB or more ram
Season with a fast processor and burn in at 34c
Out come PERFORMANCE... The combination of all the ingredients INCLUDING striped HDs adds up.
I hope you are not going to deny a holistic approach to so called epenis or uber rigs is what makes them bleeding edge.
