Ok I left them in the same plugs, rebooted into BIOS, enabled the SATA controller, and upon booting I pressed the button to enter the RAID utility. In there, I tried pressing enter on the "Create RAID setup" option, and it told me there weren't enough single drives to do it. Do I have to do something else to get it to work?

Update: lol, trial version of Partition Magic doesn't let you actually partition, it only goes as far as letting you see what you can you do, then it tells you that you need to buy the full version to make it happen :laugh: .

Update: lol, trial version of Partition Magic doesn't let you actually partition, it only goes as far as letting you see what you can you do, then it tells you that you need to buy the full version to make it happen :laugh: .

You have to start with blank, formatted drives. Raid 0 is a waste and isn't worth the increased chance of data loss.

It really irks me that ppl have the uber computers then don't have the first clue about them....

Go with Raid 0 for max performance. If you have motherboard RAID than you should see a good gain in performance. If you have an addin card, forget it because he PCI bus will limit the throughput anyways.

I have two WD Raptors in RAID 0 on my motherboard and since I RAIDed it, Im always frst on the map whereas I used to be one of the last in normal configuration.

RAID 1 will slow the machine down but will make two copies of your hard drive. Thus is one fails you can just use the other. Like I said tho, this will lower performance.

I think with RAID comes a bit of a placebo effect. Although people who use RAID swear that they load faster and stuff, most benchmarks show differences that would be unnoticed, within seconds. Raid or no raid, I honestly believe that you'll get the same performance, whether you feel the difference is a "personal" thing.

Well since I can't get RAID working easily, I'll stick to not using it :p . I'm always first in servers anyway .

What irks me off is people trolling threads with their own opinions - without backing up their claims with any links, reviews or benchmarks.

If you check out this link, you'll see that there IS a noticeable difference between the different RAID and non-RAID configurations.

I see gains in synthetic benchmarks, but that is far for anything noticable. And none of those benches show enoughtof a gain for me to double my chances of data loss.
