Is a sound card worth it?

I dont know what sound card I have but I know for a fact its not anything good(I couldnt put the sound settings on high for the starship trooper demo).
Which soundcard should I get? 100-150 dollar price range

Maybe he has onboard audio only. The Audigy 2 ZS is a good card in that pricerange.

Yea im not sureif i should buy a sound card either. Will it take much strain off my CPU, as i have an inbuild one on the Mobo. Also does it give you that much better sound? Im runnign some really dodgey speakers, so would it do me much good?

I bought an Audigy 2ZS recently, and 5.1 surround sound headphones, and the difference was about 100 times better. I hear things now that I didn't even know were there :p

I'd get teh x-fi i heard the 24bit crystalizer thing makes so much of a diff it will blow you away.
