Alright, i am going to get a new video card and it's between a refurb x800Pro (ati) or an evga 6800 (vanilla). the x800 has Gddr3 memory, and 256 mb of it. It has the same number of piplines too. The only downside i can see to the x800 is that it doesn't support shader model 3.0. Note that this is an agp system, and so i probably will be buying a pci e system in a few years. How long will it be before i really need 3.0 support? I am probably going to be playing bf2 a lot, what settings do you think is can get with each (see specs in my sig). Thnx

Re: x800Pro or 6800?
Well, I dug out the specs, and it looks like the x800Pro is the better card.
6800 - 22.4 GB/s, 325/700MHz
x800Pro - 28.8 GB/s, 475/900MHz
With this card I think you should be able to run everything on High, apart from maybe Textures and/or Geometry. Perhaps you'll be able to run some AA aswell, but it's hard to tell.

Omg I was just thinking the same question today o.o
x800 pro from the ATI clearance thing ?
I think we both would be better off getting a 6800 GT or x800 XL. That way we don't have to change to PCI-E too soon as the GT/XL will last longer.
I have the same setup as yo
3 GHZ HT,1 Gig ram, 9800 pro agp/

Re: x800Pro or 6800?
Yeah, the x800XL is a very good card, and has a higher core speed than the 6800GT.
x800XL - 32.0 GB/s, 400/1000MHz.
6800GT - 32.0 GB/s, 350/1000MHz.
However, it's a pricy card.. Might be worth putting your money towards a PCI-e motherboard/CPU/gfx card instead!

Re: x800Pro or 6800?
The X800XL is a great card and will run on par with the 6800GT and edge it out slightly with AA and higher resolutions. The X800Pro is a better card than the vanilla 6800, but not as good as the 6800GT.
6800<X800Pro<6800GT<X800XL
Now many people have said that the Nvidia drivers are more stable, but I can say the ATI Catalyst 5.9 and 5.10's have fixed my CTD's and run great.

Re: x800Pro or 6800?
Um, correction on clock speeds, the stock for ATi X800XL is 400/980mhz, so it's really close, but i'm just being a perfectionist. Now, i would say ATi drivers are stable and it usually edges better in AA than nvidia. But also, for reallly good performance cheap, get the X800GTO2 from Sapphire, it's almost guaratneed to unlock pipes and get from 400/980 to 520/1080. BUt i don't get how they overclock the core speed so much, how can an inferior card to the X800XL ovreclock all the way to 520mhz core, but mine can barely reach 450mhz? Unless they have different cores, but i'm pretty sure that the GTO series has the R430 core like the X800XL, as they have same clock speed etc.
