I know something like this have been posted before. But the things is..

I'm still confused of all the good motherboard with or without SLi. My plan is that, I want a SLi and PCI-E motherboard together with the wonderfull 7800GTX in the nearest future.

The processor I got now is Socket 478 and no motherboard with PCI-E nor SLi comes in the same Socket. So I need a new CPU aswell.

So my question to all of you would be: What should I buy? I need a new motherboard and processor. Thank you for your time. :)

It's all down to your budget m8,
Give us guys an idea on how much you want to spend
and then we can maybe give you some ideas.

One tip though base your next system on socket 939

Yes 939 CPU, I would go with the ASUS AN8 Delux SLI or Fatal1ty AN8sli the ASUS is 165.00 and the ABIT Fatal1ty is 205.00

Just save up and get processor and motherboard at the same time, because if you only have one your not going to be able to use the other. This is what I suggest you save up for:

Whatever you do, go AMD.

I have an Intel P4, and they run way too hot. Get atleast an Athlon64 Venice core, if you can aford it, get the AMD Athlon64 x2 3800+.

I work at Best Buy and we have a new tower with the following specs:

3800+ X2
1GB DDR400
300GB HD
Crappy Graphics

But its only like $900.

Thank you all for your replies. I got the money for what I want, but at the same time I also want to be clever and not spend all of em' :P

I have decided that I will go for one of those two motherboards because they're the best out there right? And I'll buy an AMD Athlon 64 something.

How about a DFI LanParty SLi mobo (socket 939). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136151 This one seems to be the best mobo for AMD and for OC'ing as well. Stable and the layout is spread apart compared to Abit's Fatal1ty.

I'd go for the DFI LanParty SLI-DR, it's one of the best motherboards available these days. It's got an endless list of overclocking options and monitor utilities.
Not only that, but it looks damn cool with its UV reactive connectors and slots :)

Well depends-

ABIT one is good for overclocking

DFI looks good and again, good for overclocking BUT unlike the ASUS SLI DELUXE you cannot put two cards with big coolers in SLI.

A8N DELUXE is an all round good board, but the chipset cooler sucks.

I would honestly go for the ABIT FATALITY.

The A8N are just Nforce4 PCI-e boards non SLI. Any of those will do just fine for your application, although I think the Asus boards have more room.

Dont get this board I am selling a computer on ebay with it in. I am giving the buyer an option to throw in the ASUS instead cause DFI sux compared to it
