I was going to install a new vid card but when I open the tower I coulndt find the video card, but someone told me that it was attached to the MOB. So how do I pout a new one in? Plz dont tell me I need a new MOB

If you have an AGP slot you put the card in, go into the BIOS and idsable onboard video, then your done. If you don't have an AGP slot then your SOL.

ok, when you start you pc tap the "delete" key, this will take you into the BIOS. The BIOS controlls how you pc can act and how it will run. Im not that good at using it, so ill let someone else tell you what to do when your in there.

First off, do you know if you have an AGP or PCI slot MoBo...Motherboard.
Secondly, if you do...is the card correct, AGP Card for an AGP MoBo etc.
Thirdly, simply put the card in firmly. Make sure that you are not statically charged though!!!

Looks like BooM doesn't have any experience in tinkering with the computer's insides.

In this case, take your PC to a computer shop, and ask them to install a card for you. If you're willing to learn, the local library should have books on upgrading or maintaining PCs. A search on Google should bring up many PC upgrade sites. Newsagents also sell booklets on upgrading PCs, etc. for a very cheap price.

If you really insist on doing this yourself:

Look up your motherboard's manual and find out if it has AGP or PCI-Express slots. Also find out if the motherboard has an on-board video controller (it probably does). And most importantly, look for instructions on accessing the BIOS.

The BIOS is a device on your motherboard which regulates low-level hardware settings and also controls the boot-up process. Early in your boot-up, usually in the first several seconds, there is a key that can be pressed to access BIOS settings. Usually the key is Delete or F1.

On some motherboards, installing a video card in a AGP or PCI-express slot will automatically disable the on-board video controller. On some other motherboards, the on-board video controller must be disabled manually by accessing the BIOS at boot-up. The only way for you to find out is by trial-and-error (and risk screwing your PC), or by consulting your motherboard or PC's documentation. If it is a brand-marked PC try contacting the help-desk of the manufacturer to find out how to disable the on-boad video, what types of video cards are compatible with your computer, and the proper procedure to install a video card.

It has and AGP slot so i just gatta plug the vid card in there and disable the one that is cureently being use correct?

BTW I have installed a vid card before. I just didnt know what to do when the MOB and vidcard were put together

your video is just onboard. Pop the new card in boot into your BIOs (delete key when the POST screen shows up, thats the first one).

When you're in BIOs look for something that says "Integrated Periphrals" and go into that. Then find "Onboard Video" or "Onboard Graphics" change that to disabled.

Re-boot, your new card should be defaulted primary.

and do yourself a favor and read a book on the workings of the computer, it will def. help. Also people usually use the abreviation MOBO for the motherboard, not MOB

I have learned everything about how to build a computer on the web, and now I have built my own. Look around these forums, I am sure you will learn well overtime :)
