How do I install RAM?

Do I just put in the Stick and Im done?

Will my BIOS/Window XP Sp2 automaticly find it, or do I have to go somewhere and do something in order to activate my new RAM?

Corsair Value RAM is what Im getting. Its cheap and I've made my mind on it.

Yes you just stick it in, it's the easiest thing you could put in...and don't get the Value RAM, save up for some better RAM.

Well .. i buying a ram too.... DDR-ram.. im getting a 512mb and a 1GB stick of ram to slot it in with my 256MB X 2 so i have 2 gig of ram!

Don't do it...that's wrong!
Your timings will be totally out...all your RAM will go slow as SH*T and they just won't work right...if at all. :)

I dont think he appreciated the insults.....just a little advise.

However, as its been bluntly put, this is the wrong way of doing things. If you want 2GB its by way best getting 2 x 1GB sticks of decent quality ram, scrap the idea of using your 2 x 256 sticks you will most certainly slow things downs and probably run into other issues.

Having more than 2 sticks of ram forces the memory command rate to 2T which can have a good 3 - 5% impact of performance, it will also put more pressure on the memory controller and also use more power. Defo stick to 2 sticks and no more.

Well I am using four 512 MB DDR RAM 3200 Sticks and all I can say that Battlefield runs smooth as a baby butt on the highest settings.

I am not saying things wont run smoothly....just saying it will knock a couple of FPS off and will put more stress on your memory controller and PSU.
