Thoughts on liquid cooling?

As far as case fans I have 2 pointing in from the side on my vid card and one pointing in from the front, On the back of the case I have a open vent and a monster exhaust fan aloong with two exhaust fans on the psu.Okay, my amd64 2800+ has a slight overclock by upping the fsb by 22mhz and it runs 46C under load and never over that. My major concern is that my albatron gforce 5800 gets hot. By hot I mean damn hot. Under load it climes up into the 65+ range. I have been kicking around the idea of scraping the air cooled system and going with theraltakes bigwater se system, Its upgradable and expandable . My only drawback: Isnt this stuff risky? I mean water flowing inside of my box? It sounds like it will work excellent but I am worried about leaks and what not. What are anyone thoughts on this?

Actually, 65 isn't hot for a video card, for a processor yes, gpu not really. As far as liquid cooling goes, in my opinion it's only necessary if you plan on extreme overclocking. Liquid cooling usually uses a non-conductive coolant rather than water for just that reason. Leaky water cooled PC's would be very bad indeed.

The thought of having water inside my computer makes me worried. I like the old fashioned way. Lots of fans and a case with a see thru panel and 2 120MM fans.

Its kinda contra intutive to put wate near a puter.... However, when your building the rig you can connect all the cooling blocks out side your case and fill the system and check for leaks. I use distilled water and UV coolant.

The results (ball park) are the 2 7800s 39-40°C and the CPU 34°C under load. You just can't get that sort of cooling with air only. There are a lot of nice external coolers so the resovoir is out side the case. Zalman have a fanless soloution although I prefer thermaltake on quality.

So why does everybody b**ch about kits not being upgradeable. If you buy a kit that has the industry standard tubing diameter then why couldnt you add to it whatever you wished?

Yeah the buying kit thing isnt as bad as you people put it. Look at the Swiftech H20 Rev3A kit, awesome CPU block, Awesome pump, easy installation, awesome radiator, Hydrx coolant, comes with coolsleeves and 3/8ID tubing.... In fact most things that are in this kit is what the guy on the extreme forums recommended anyways, buying each part seperate would take up more room inside your PC and at the same time cost more.

Because saying its a custom build is leet. A kit comes with all the parts for basic installation. .I added two more blocks for the video cards. The issue I had with internal radiators was efficency with 3 cooling blocks. The cost was the same if I could have bought it all seperately.

I have a liquid cooled CPU, I got the cooling system from Thermaltake. http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/c...ilentTower.htm
Its really big and bulky but it gets he job done.

Hey openheimer, what kind of radiator did you have to begin with. I'm going to be running a 3 block system with 1 120mm copper rad and I'm hoping I won't need another. I'm not looking for my temps too be too cold, but at least same as the stock air temps.
