    What is faster ? Intel 775 2.6 mhz cpu Vs a Amd 64 bit 754 cpu 3400???

Hey i wanted to know what is faster for systems? My friend has a Intel 775 2.6 gig mhz 800 fsb cpu with 1 gig ram and 128 6600gt pciexpress nvidia and windows xp pro sp2,dvd-rom,asus mb ASUS P5GD1 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915P ATX Intel with a 250 sata hd.

    I have a msi K8N Neo3 amd 64bit 754 mb with a Athlon 64 3400+ 754 Processor and 1 gig ram 512x2 3200 ddr ram and raptor 36 sata 10,000 rpm hd, nvidia 128 6600gt pci express video card and dvd-rom and windows xp pro sp2.

He says his system is alot faster? Intel? Is the 754 cpu at 2.4 gig speed slower?

His ghz are faster, but that don't matter, a 3400+'s equivelent in Intel is about a 3.2ghz-3.4ghz processor. Yours is much faster.

Well i just need to justify upgrading to a faster mb and sli and cpu. His arguement is Intel is still faster even at a 3.2 intel 800 fsb 775 cpu. Right now i'm going to reinstall everything from OS-bf2- with the 1.03 patch due to a socket error while trying to create a account! I lost my old account and can't figure out what happend to it and can not make a new account online!

Why do you even have to ask that question?

Not everyone is good with computers. Be considerate.

Not that my advice helps but I have an AMD Newcastle 754 socket 3200+ and it runs BF2 just fine.

Ok i get it now about the fsb on the difference on both systems. This was explained to my friend who understands too the 400/400 up down of the chipset cpu.

I used to have a Intel P4 2.8 overclocked to 3.4 ghz and then I switched to a 754 3400+ clawhammer and in terms of gaming, it was waaaay smoother and the minimum fps was a lot higher on the AMD. Ever since, I've stuck with AMD and will until Intel get's their act together.

AMD runs 6 clocks per cycle vs the Intel's 4 clocks per cycle. That's why a 2.2 AMD is equivelant to a 3.4~ Intel.

                              Intel does not have a 2.6 LGA 775 with a 800mhz bus.
800mhz buses are for P4, the LGA775 only goes as low as 2.8, so your have wrong information, or you friend has a celeron D wich has a 533mhz bus, or maybe he has a socket 478, BUT NOT LGA HAS 2.6 OKKKKKK
