Artic silver should have not stuck them together like that, it was some other kind of thermal compound, and like someone said if you can twist it firts do that, then pull.

Same thing happened to me when I replaced the stock fan with a Thermalright XP-90. My brand new E6 AMD x2 3800+ was stuck to the friggin heatsink. And yes, it was Artic Silver. Luckily the CPU wasnt damaged.

well no matter what i do, if i happend to take off the heatsink, the whole cpu will come out, because its being held down by the heatsink

CPU did it for me aswell! I used to lag like crazy, now I am good with my Athlon!

I upgraded from a 3200 to 4000, and I do get better FPS now. I was averaging around 40-60 before, I now rarely get dips below 50 and I get a constant 50-100. Next upgrade is RAM.

You act like that's a surprise, of course your performance will go up with a faster processor...

The reason it is a surprise to me, is because numerous benchmarks have shown NO performance increase no matter what Athlon 64 processor you have. The 3000 and FX-57 had the same FPS in the benchmarks.

To be honest, thats the biggest load of BS i've heard this morning. There is a big difference in general, but in BF2, not that big, esp with you got already 2gb of ram with a decently powerful video card. But it would definately help in other games, where CPU is a bigger factor...

Well i oced from a 2.0 to a 2.4 and there where no problems whatsoever, it was like much smoother..

And my Cpu kept cold too 36 Celcius is not bad for a 400mhz boost.

I've got an Athlon 3200+ XP, 2.2ghz. It was good when I ran it at 2.2, but I've got it up to 2.4ghz now, and the FPS, while not really higher, is a little steadier. I get much more of a performance boost by OCing my GPU, though.

Some people have a CPU temp monitor in their BIOS, I don't, but just download a program called Everest and it will tell you EVERYTHING about your computer. www.lavalys.com I think is the site, if not just google Everest.

Or a bunch of other things like PC wizard 2005, or Speed fan 4.26, MBM5 etc. Just google something like "CPU temperature monitor" Or something like that.
