Game crashes at the Load screen

Hi, I have a P4 2.8ghz HT CPU, 1gb DDR Corsair XMS ram, (just bought a MSI NX6600GT geforce card) and a 35gb Raptor harddrive. My problem is that when I load up the game everything works fine until I try to join a game. When i'm in the loading screen it says "Optimizing shaders etc" as it starts to load. The farthest I've gotten is 46% and then it just crashes to desktop. I get no errors or anything. I have the DVD version of the game, and the 78.01 display drivers. Is there a fix to this? or do I need to get a new video card?

Just tried making an Image with Daemon tools. Thought maybe the dvd was causing the problem. It still gets to the load screen then crashes. Not having much luck searching these forums either. I feel so lonely :)

Ok so I just tried it with the default settings 800x 600 medium on everything. Tried the Singleplayer mode and it actually worked. Tried to host a local game and it crashed. Went back to singleplayer and no longer works. This game is drivin me crazy.

format your system then reinstall everything from beginning and also defrag your harddrive!

I have tried installing it and running and no luck, also I did just format and still not having any luck. The game ran again in 800x600 60hz with all settings on low, but that was only in singleplayer. Still not working in multiplayer. I'm thinking of sending this card back and getting a new one. Unless there is some miracle fix, I have run out of options.

If you just bought the 6600, I suggest uninstalling all the video drivers and getting driver cleaner and cleaning any remaining files. After that install the latest nVidia drivers. Also clean out your shader folder in the My Documents mods/bf2/cache folder.

BTW, your game doesn't load from the DVD, so making an image would have no effect.

Ok I got my problem fixed I set the video settings to medium and it worked

I give up with this stupid video card... I've installed a handful of drivers, can't find sh*t on the web about any one else having problems with this card. Messed with all the BF2 settings ( not like there is many to mess with ) and come to the conclusion my card is ghey. I've been working on this since 4:00pm and I've lost all hope.
