Well I made a intel celron p-4 533 bus 2.66 cpu with a asus mb p5s something and 512 ddr 3200 ram and a 5200 video 128 agp nvidia card and a raptor hd.
That was a bad plan totally! I went back and made a amd 64 bit 754 2800 cpu with 512 ram 3200 and asus 6200 256 k ram and pci express and raptor 36 hd
with a MSI K8N NEo 3 with nforce 4 !

Much better !! will need help with choices on video card next payday? $200.00 budget limit on upgrades!:p

Get a 6600GT

by the way , Celeron is bad for just about anything .....except maybe office and mail ....

Nvidia or ATI? That'll help narrow it down, otherwise we can give you options on both manufacturers.
Well I found a few options for under $200 on www.newegg.com
ATI: X800GT 400/980 core/mem $160
X800Pro 475/900 $190
Nvidia 6800 325/700 $200
All PCI-E and all 256M versions.
The cheapest 6800GT 256M I could find was $283
ATI's comperable card is the X800XL for $254
I'd also take a long hard look at upgrading that 512M or ram to atleast 1G, preferably 2 gig. We're talking around a 85 for 1G(2x512k) or 200 for 2G(1gx2)
Probably around 50 for another 512M stick to match what you have.

firstly if your a gamer i wouldnt touch intel with a bargepole! secondly i would do some reasearch on the 6800 and X800/850 ive seen some benchmarks where the X800 will surpass the 6800 on most of the game tests except doom3 which appears biased towards the 6800

i have a celeron 2.5ghz i mean it aint the best but it does the job in my view.

My g/f's little brother bought a celeron D 320 2.8ghz and has it overclocked to 3.6ghz. Its actually pretty quick for an 80 dollar CPU.

Great choices ! I am a avid Nvidia gamer with the 6200 asus 256 pci Express right now ! I should get what first ? A faster video card for $200 nvidia! Or get 1 gig ram ? Will my sempron 2800 754 64 bit cpu last for a bit or should i look for a faster 64 amd 64 bit 754 elsewhere till i upgrade to a 939 sli setup? with faster cpu ?

Ram is 512 3200 400 bus
video card is a Asus Extreme N6200TC 256 Pci Express
Hard Drive is Western Digital 36 gig raptor sata
DVD-rom is Sony 16x
Basic atx case
Windows xp pro with sp2

What should i upgrade next ? The video card? Ram? CPU? I have $200.00 us limit for upgrading till next payday. I wanted to know if the cpu can go up in speed? Pricewatch has a oem Amd 64 bit 754 socket 3700? 2.4gig speed? 1600 fsb?

Well, your best bet would be to get another 512 stick of ram, and then start saving for a new graphics card.

He can still have that much memory, just dont expect to play the game the way it was meant to be play, you will probably have to turn all the bling bling to low or off.

Ok get 1 gig ram then a video card like a msi 6600 gt 128 pci Express ! Then save up for a sli mb and a 939 cpu for a bout 400-500 range, i'm going to get the last up grade in January when my tax return comes.:p

I recommend the 1 gig and 6600gt. Or just grin and bear it and save the money you have now and add it towards the new rig in a few months.
