PC Shuts Off When playing Games

Okay encountered a problem, my spec is : Enermax600w PSU, Abit AN8 SLI Mobo, FX57, 2GB Corsair PC3200, 2 x 7800 SLI, HDD not relevant as i have narrowed it down to being RAM, or BIOS settings for this 2GB amount.

If anyone has had this problem before running 2GB with the Abit AN8 Fatal1ty SLI motherboard input would be appreciated!

I had no trouble with 1.5GB running games, now i put in 2gb and it shuts off unexpectedly, if i place 19" deskfan over the case it can play games without a hitch, i know my temps are fine, only temp that gets too high is the PWM, this gets to about 52˚C under load without the 19"fan blowing directly onto the mobo, and 40˚ish with the fan, so is it temp related for do i change my memory from 1T to 2T?

What do you use to check your temps?

Try speedfan or EVEREST.

Also what make is your ram? did you mix and match modules?

I use the ABIT Guru panel, my 2gb memory is Corsair (2x1gb) the 1.5gb that worked ok was 1gb of Matrix brand and 512mb of Ace brand

Also what kind of cooling do you have? If there is any chance could you show a pic of the inside of your case?

thanks pal, i will get the camera out later for you!, i find it odd that its since installing the 2gb which is effectivly running dual channel 128bit (1T?) and the mixed memory worked fine at 64bit

You should be aware that in my bios my manual tells me to disable all FanEQ's and also disable CoolnQuiet when running SLI this has been done, i read somewhere that the memory timing when using 2gb should be set to 2T not 1T what is this T malarky??

Hmm for that "T" information i reccomend you turn to your manual. Have a good 5mins reading through the "SLI" chapter and RAM chapter. Also for what its worth contact ABIT.

ok heres a post i put on Abit's forum:-
I have a similar issue since upgrading to 2gb of RAM ok here goes:

My rig, |Enermax 600w SLI PSU|Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI|FX-57|2xGigabyte7800GTX's|2gb CorsairPC3200|SoundblasterAudigy2ZS|Maxtor74gbRapt orSATAHD|200GBMaxtorSATA|
Cooling : Standard CPU Fan, 2 x 80mm side fans (sucking air in), 1 x 80mm Rear Fan (Sucking air out), 1 x 80mm front fan (sucking air in) plus 1 x 80mm fan over the SLI cards (air blowing onto the cards) 1 x exauhst fan facing the back of the 1st 7800 card. plus the 120mm fan of the PSU and the boards OTES twin fans (huff)

the above specs are fine when running windows xp, i have no problems whatsoever, as soon as i play my BF2 or FEARMP Demo it will occasionally just switch off for no reason, so i thought about the 1T to 2T solution like DeusEx, this i havnt tried yet i will later, but the system seemed to work fine for a longer period of time with a wopping great big 19" desk fan blowing directly onto the board! BUT what worked fine without the desk fan and the side of the case closed was the 1.5gb of ram i had previously which comprised of 1gb stick of Matrix brand and a 512 of ACE brand (sh**e i know) this ran in 64bit mode not the 128bit like the corsair! what am i doing wrong guys!

eureeka, ive now come to the conclusion that running the memory in 128bit or dual channel seems to be crapping itself, it happend with the 2 x 1gb of matrix brand, and now its happening with the corsair! the single channel 1gb matrix and 512mb ace sticks had no problem, its got to be software problem either xp or my drivers, im currently running the latest bios (unsure what), nforce 6.66 with 77.77 display.

thankyou, you should see the F.E.A.R demo on this baby btw! hmm i tried both mods, and they work fine in xp, i will run a memtest on them later to confirm

Enter your BIOS and increase your DIMM voltage up but not over 2.9v. That should provide you with the stability you need.

thanks folks, ran memtest got a whole lot of errors on one of the modules, so its an email to the e-seller i got it off. and hopefully a replacement

The F.E.A.R MP demo is amazing. I play it maxed out online. Its havoc.

Maybe we should play some time!

I went back to BF2 from FEAR, and man, the quality is very noticable. lol.
