When a Monitor is going bad, HOW DO YOU KNOW?

I was just wondering does anyone know when a monitor is going bad what it does? The reason iam asking is becuase mine is making weird lines across the screen and thier is nothign messing with my game play just getting wavy lines like if you are looking a exhuasted fumes coming out of a car pipe, but it is a computer monitor. Iam sorry if iam not being clearer this is the best way to describe it.

I guess there's lots of ways.

Sometimes the monitor will flicker excessively when changing resolutions (ie from windows -> game and vice versa).

    Other times it gets blurry.

    I've seen both.

Make sure your monitor isn't too close to any other devices, such as speakers, or something unshielded.

I'd say it's possible that it is going bad. Could also be your video card though. Depends on whether or not this is a problem all the time or just in specific games or circumstances.

    Good luck.

Just plug it into another PC to see if the lines are still there. But if it happens only while playing BF2, I doubt it is the monitor.

Sounds liek the cable from the monitor is losing signal. If it is a double female (or in otherwords, there are two blue plugs, one on either end) try replacing the cable.

My monitor just died last week. A nice Hitachi 19", only 4 years old. Started getting blurry and the screen was losing brightness even with it maxed out. My new 17" Walmart 100 dollar monitor has a better and brighter picture than my 19" one did for the last year of its life.
