Ok I sold my 68 Ultra for 300...what to buy?

I am thinking of upgrading either my RAM or CPU. I just yesterday won a bid on eBay for a brand new Audigy 2 ZS for only 50 dollars...so I don't need a sound card. Here are my choices:

AMD Athlon 64 3700 San Diego

AMD Athlon 64 4000 San Diego (need about 60 more dollars from my mommy :))

2 GB (2x 1GB) OCZ High Performance Platinum Series

    Which of the three?

    Depends.

I would get the SAN DEIGO 3700 and at a later date get the better RAM and overclock. If not get the RAM and OC the 3200 to 3800+ speeds.

Hands down i would go for the 3700+

Dude, every post you make has to do with OCing...not everybody wants to/knows how to. I appreciate your suggestion, but I don't know anything about OCing and don't plan on learning. So what would be the best w/o OC.

What else do you use the computer for? If it's just a gaming rig get the RAM, if it's used for video editing and stuff get the 3700 or 4000. If you decide the processor route, I'd get the 4000....why not. I noticed that about OCing too, kinda hoping somebody would say something....

lol..all I do is play games on it really, but wouldnt the processor help out more than the ram? Because I have a pretty powerful video card but I don't think I'm getting the most out of it...I sometimes get FPS in the 20's...yes the 20's. It's rediculous. I don't know what to do, I just want it to stay at 70-100 constant on ALL servers, not just 16 and some 32 size.

            4000+ or 3700+ then.

Most of my posts are about oc'ing yes. But why else would u want quality ram? LOL :P.

Honestly, the difference between the 3700 and 4000 is 200mhz. I would get the 4000+.

Did you mean to say you would get the 3700? I thought about that too, it's only a .2 mhz difference...but on some benchmarks it actually made like a 10 fps difference.

Honestly? I would get the 4000+, with that your system is very powerful. Its a FX 53.

Also with the 4000+ theres only 200mhz difference from that to a FX55.

                      It's 200 Mhz, or .2 Ghz, NOT .2 Mhz.

Why get the 3700 if I can possibly get the 4000?

And jimmy, that's what I meant

Why not get an X2 if you going to be spending that much.
