    Did I Get Ripped Off?

Well, i really want to get bf2, so i bought myself a new processor.
Now heres my problem. when i do DxDiag it shows that my processor only has 1.1 GhZ I called them up and asked them and they told me it works like a 2.5 Ghz but it says its 1.1 because its AMD. Are they lying.

Heres what the DxDiag says : AMD Sempron(tm),MMX, 3D Now ~1.1Ghz

    Thanks.

do you know what your Front Side Bus is? 1.1 seems kinda low even for a Sempron. Any idea what the rating is (i.e. 2500+, 2800+, 3000+, etc.)

AMD delivers leadership high-performance and adaptive computing solutions to advance data center AI, AI PCs, intelligent edge devices, gaming, & beyond.

there is no sempron that runs at 1.1ghz.

Well, don't guess...go and find the box and read off EXACTLY what it says.

I'm guessing that your FSB is set incorrectly.

That's your motherboard...I would like to know what your CPU box says. You know...the one you think you got ripped off with?

We need to know exactly which CPU you are supposed to have.

Since your motherboard is Socket A, then your CPU speed should be 1833 MHz if it is a Sempron 2600+

If it is a Sempron 2600, you need to go into the bios and set the FSB to 166. Then it will rune at its rated speed (currently 100x11, and should be 166x11). Also, make sure that your ram is at least PC2700/333 mhz or higher, or the computer will most likely not run.

Okay, doing some caclutations you are running your FSB at 100mhz (1050mhz/10.5=100), it needs to be 166mhz (1750mhz/10.5=166). The 10.5 is your CPU's multiplier. AMD cpu's are 'double pumped' meaning the FSB is doubled giving you 333 bandwidth (166x2=333) (which is the max your mobo can support). Go into your BIOS and increase your FSB to 166 (333 effectively).

When the comp boots, the first screen there is message "Press Del to enter BIOS" (generally). Just boot up and keep hitting the delete key. There should be a setting under Power Management (or something similar). Your manual should have this info in it.

another thing to keep in mind, what is your RAM speed? Generally, you can't go faster than your RAM speed (PC2700 = 333mhz). If you have slower RAM (i.e. PC2400=133mhz) your comp won't boot. Faster RAM (PC3200=400mhz) and it will be just fine.

I strongly advise you to read the user guide before entering the realm of the system BIOS. But if you go there, only edit the memory speed as he explained so well above.

To access your BIOS, reboot the PC and hold down the Delete key until you see the BIOS Boot screen appear.
