    Start->Run->type 'Dxdiag' and hit enter.

    Go to the 'Sound' tab and ensure that hardware acceleration is set to full (all the way to the right)

      You can set it to 'Hardware' in BF2 audio options.

        I guess I was assuming that he knows HOW to set it to hardware...he CANNOT set it to hardware for some reason...and that's the problem.

        Tell me if I'm wrong.

            And what did DXDiag tell you...also, did you update to those drivers I recommended?

                Sorry...those drivers were VERY new and I did not know if you knew about them yet

                Did you check DXDiag and perform the sound tests? Was the slider all the way to 'full acceleration'?

                  yup, software setting sounds great, and the hardware setting sounds suck, all work but gun sounds
