Bad graphics card

A couple weeks ago a friend of mine ordered BF2 so he obviously installed as soon as it got once it finnshed installing he clicked 'play' it loaded up went to a full black screen then quit to desktop . I beleive he has a ATI radeon 9800 or something similar . So maybe theres a way that he could fix it , without having to buy a new graphics card ( i read on the BF2 website that this problem is mainly due to bad cards) also his sound card is busted . . so plz help thx.

what do u mean? he tried to install the drivers that come with bf2 but it said that it couldnt install

tell him to download the newest drivers from www.ati.com
