My COMP PROBS :P wont start to windows.

Ok i turned on the comp today and it booted up went to the windows thing and before i could log in it restarted. I tried a multiple amount of times and still nothing.

    1. I think the problem is my harddrive its an old, cheap, 7200 rpm Maxtor i got in canada when i was motchipping my xbox. ( that owned i had like 40 games on there) When I came home to california i buillt my sexy rig... So after a couple of months i have disk error probs and stuff like that.

And Now i think its the worst of it.

Should I get a new harddrive or stick with my corrupted one and reinstall windows AGAIN!

Go to ur bios, set down the FSB speed and CPU voltages, see if that helps.

Well, at least it was worth a try, that's what happened to me when overclocking, try using a old hard drive if you can, and unplug the canadian maxtor, then try, if not try moving the memory from dimm 1 to dimm3 if you only have 1 stick of memory. And if you have two sticks of memory, use only onestick and put that stick in dimm 1, if that doesn't work, use the other one in dimm 1 and take the current one out, then do the same for dimm 3 if that doesn't work.

DOn't ask me, did you do everything i told you there, such as trying out another hd, and switching around the memory from dimm 1 to dimm 3. Oh yeah, another suggestion, if you have a old computer with SDram, just put it into dimm 1 or dimm 3, see if it runs, if it does, that means that your current memory is defective, and you need new memory.

reboot to the boot menu (F8) and turn on boot logging and see if you can find what error is happening.

If you're getting errors in windows besides the boot problem its probably time for a fresh install.

Have you tried the Last Known Good Configuration option the the Safe Mode menu, F8 ?

What this does it to revert your registry and settings to the last time you had a successfull logon, and since it crashes before you have the chance to logon it may help.

Since it sounds like its a bad HDD altogether just buy a new one, youre gonna have to buy a new one sometime. And this way you can get info off of it before it completley fries itself.
