Because right now i have an AMD athlon xp 2100+ at 1.74 ghz and this one is only at 1.60... can someone please explain this? because this is a better processor than mine but it has a lower ghz than mine.. Can i overcloack it higher? any help would be appreciated.

I believe because its a diffrent processor series and ghz are not everything could be wrong but i tried lol somone want to correct me if iam wrong be my guest

Don't get a Sempron, its like getting a Celeron processor for Intel. Get a 64, or save your money.

Well, the first link is defintely better, but it's still only a sempron 64. Try and get a AMD Athlon 64, much better, they cost 150 bucks for the 3000+ (1.8ghz) and only about 80 bucks for a cheap Nforce 4 Socket 939 mobo.

Yeah, DFI Lanparty is a great mobo, but the problem is it costs like 150 bucks. But yeah, get a Athlon 64 3000+ processor.

Most likely he will need to stay with an AGP board. Don't be afraid to get a sempron, they really aren't that bad, and overclock like no other.

Make Sure you get a venice core if i was you id get a 3200 Venice with A Asus A8v-e deluxe. i Heard that the Dfi- Lanparty is unreliable alot.

AMD's Semprons are nothing like Intel's Celerons, Semprons are actually quite capable of gaming and are only alightly less effective than their XP/64 counterparts.
