    2GB RAM = awesome, however...

Ok, new RAM came this morning :yay:
Installed straight away and fired it up after performing the usual checkups. I must admit that I was a little sceptical of those that say that 2GB makes as big of a difference as they claimed but WOW.
I can run everything on high now and cuts through this game like a blowtorch through butter! :O Map loads and client verification is 25 seconds tops and I was able to increase a few settings too and still gain a few FPS compared to 1GB.

Only problem now is that the system takes at least 5 whole minutes to shut down!? I don't restart often so It's not a huge concern but this never happened with the old 1GB setup.

Dunno if this will help your shutdown issues , but this might have an answer.

I could run my gaming system for days on end with 1GB but this new shutdown issue is bs tbh.

My computer starts up very quickly but takes longer to shut down

i have a gig of dual channel ddr

the computer works fine after playing bf2 after a few minutes clearing the memory i guess.

Could be your paging file pirate. Mines set at 1536 and 3072 default with 1 gig of ram. The bigger the pagefile the more time it takes to shut down. No idea why but i believe thats the cause of the longer shutdown and reboot. Mine only takes a few seconds to shutdown and no more then 20 secs to reboot. Might be way less then 20 secs. I really never clocked it.

I have 1024MB min and 1024MB max on the secondary HDD which is on the second IDE cable, the fastest setup possible.

Ok try this. Go to start, run, type regedit, HKey_local_machine, system, control set 001, control, look to the right for wait to kill service, left click, itll bring up a value data add a 0. What the number is is the waiting time to shutdown services in the background. The higher the number the more time it takes to shutdown and reboot. Dont worry about messing up your registry ive had it at 0 for a year now and no problems.

Hm perhaps with your new ram size, your pagefile requirements have changed. maybe read up on pagefiles. :|:

Pagefile is too high. IF i increase my pagefile to both 1024 then it takes longer for my hd and computer to shutdown. Right now its at stock when i reloaded windows. And that tweak i posted above will help.

I did the 'fast shutdown' tweak and things are fine now.

Not only is reboot faster so is shutdown.

Get TuneXP and run the boot defrag, and I think there'a another tweak for faster shutdowns.
