What the hell is that? I just bought a raptor from newegg and reading some of the reviews on it has me thinking of buying another raptor so I could run them in RAID 0 because everyone says it's fast blah blah blah. The problem is I dont even know wtf RAID 0 is :laugh: How does it work? Is it good for gaming? is really better to have 2 raptors in RAID 0 then just 1 raptor. This is my 1st serial ata hd so I might need your help when I get it.

A raid 0 is when you have the two hard drives working together as one big hard drive. The advantage since the data is written across both drives, both drives work together to gather littler pieces of information much quicker. The disadvantage is that if one hard drive goes back, all data on both drives are completly lost.
By raptor I assume that you're talking about the 10k rpm drives? I have heard from people that 2 10k rpm drives on a raid 0 will aproach the speed of one 15k rpm at accessing data. This will speed up your client data verification, I am not sure how much though as i have not tested it myself, aparantly it also speeds up torrent downloads as well. -

Yeah, it's simple, it splits the info of everything you have, into two halves, one in each drive, then to reaccess the info, it accesses both drivers at the same time, therefore, speeding up all loading times. BUt one drive dies, you have to reinstall everything (including windows XP) onto the single hard drive, which sux. Which is also why there is RAID 1, and RAID 10, and of course the best of them all, RAID 5. I 'm pretty sure all nforce4 mobos support raid.Comment
