Why is BF2 choppy on this computer?

Dell Precision 450
3Ghz Xeon 1MB cache
1GB ram
nVidia QuadroFX 500 128MB
SoundBlaster Audigy 2
160GB HD
Sony DVD Burner.

Windows XP sp2 w/all hot fixes to date. Latest drivers from nVida and Creative. Game loads great, but as soon as you enter the mission it slows to a crawl. I'm thinking the video card but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Yeh, we use 2x Xeon's in our IBM workstations on CAD systems and they aint that great. The quadro's are pretty low end, definitely try replacing that 1st..

Ok, xeons and Opterons are for servers and worksations, and not for gaming. the quadro is for 3d stuff, not games though, nvidia quattro and ATi fire gl are workstation cards. Radeon for ATi and FX/6/7series for nvidia are for gaming.

Your Xeons should be ok for gaming, you'll get alittle less the Pentium cpu's but honestly they beat celeron cpu's hands down.

lol quatro 500 is a great card... but not for games... use maya or studioworks it should do fine :P

No, The Xeons are/were designed for high-end workstations and process intense servers (Web/DB/Mail). So far, BF2 is the only game I can't run on this computer. MOHPA, HL2, and even FarCry worked great, but no BF2. Go figure:cry:, maybe the patch will help.

Xeon processors are supported in BF2. Your processor is not the problem.

Correct, as I said alittle bit ago. They will beat the Celeron CPU on gaming, but the Pentium will still be better for gaming. Now video incoding and such the Xeon is queen.
