Current computer score: 15
Video 4 pts, RAM 2+1 pts, CPU 2 pts, HDD 2+3 pts, Sound 0+1 pts = 15 pts.

New computer (will arrive in a week): 24
Video 6 pts, RAM 5+1 pts, CPU 5+1 pts, HDD 2+3 pts, Sound 0+1 pts = 24 pts

New one doesn't have a sound card, just using onboard sound, and only one 74GB HDD (10k RPM). In the future I will get a 2nd same HDD in RAID0, and an Audigy ZS2

P.S. I assumed my HDD would get +3 bonus, it is a 10k RPM, 8MB cache, SATA. Tell me if I should only get 1 bonus or something

I based my scored around the PC I'm in the process of building right now. It scored a 16. Although you skipped the AMD 3500+, so I picked the option with a 3600 in it(I don't even think there is a 3600?)

Yea i made 2 mistakes in the poll, one is that i missed out on the 3500+ and the second is with the RAM it should be 2Gb not 20, but, yea there is an Athlon 3600+

Im estimating that a score over 18, should be able to get all high graphics, but this can be incorrect, as someone may have very good, say HD, but poor vid card. But its a guide to go by.

That's not really a good way to judge a system's rating through a poll.

You should've adjusted your hard drive questions, and your rating qualifications.

For instance, on hard drives, you should've asked what kind of hard drive they have, i.e., raptor or standard sata.

On the memory it shouldve been 2 gb + not 20gb.

On the processors the highest option (best) should've been 4000+ and beyond.

Right but the point is what has an effect in the game???

It might be better to put something in like the following...

Graphics (low, medium, high)
-what does graphics mean it has to do with settings and lag times.

Low - Anything that works
Medium - You need at least a X card
High - You need at least a 6600

Memory
Low- bearable
Medium - 1G For medium settings you need at least a gig
High- Both medium and high will benifit from 2G

Harddrive
- space doesn't matter if you have at least 1G free after install that all you need
- Reduces load times, and lags within the game from inadequate amounts of memory.

Low - 7200 RPM drive with 8mb cache
Medium - 10K drives raptors sata
High - Raided raptors or 15K scsi's

Processors
Prcoessors don't have alot of effect beyond 3400XP or 3.4G P4's.
low - the min requirements
Medium - xp3200 or 3.2G P4
High - XP3700, dual core, Multi processor (HT is not multi)

Sound
-dedicated hardware required if you have a slow machine only.

I disagree completely vjs.

1. Anyone can 'run' High, but your FPS is what counts.

2. To run High Settings at a decent resolution (1280 x 1024 +) you need at least a 6800 Ultra (and that's pushing it).

3. Your memory ratings seem plausible.

4. Harddrives: Raptor should be included with high, there are no performance gains from Raid 0 with load times.

5. Processors: High = 4000+ (fx-53) and beyond.

Are you sure about RAID 0 not affecting the load times? I thought that i reasd somewhere that it did help, and if it doesnt, then why are so many people using it? Also, the reason that i didnt say to add a point for raptors as there are otehr HD's out there that are as good and that might disadvantage some otehrs. I thought saying 10 000 rpm and having the cache would be sufficient.
