    Rate Your System

This is a better version of my ealier thread "Your System". There are five questions above, each of which has four answers to choose from, except the last one which has 2 . After your have voted on the poll, use the scoring system below to get a total for your system. For this i have taken into account the video card as a very high influence and then RAM then CPU speed then options like hard disk speed and size and also whether or not you have a sound card.

    Video Cards
Add 1 point is your VRAM is over 256.
Minus 1 if your VRAM is less than 256.
1 = This adds 1 point to your system
2 = This adds 3 ponits to your system
3 = This adds 4 points to your system
4 = This adds 6 points to your system

    RAM
If you are using Dual Channel RAM (that is 2 x 512 or 1 x 1gig sticks of RAM) add 1 point to ur total.
1 = This adds 1 points to your system
2 = This adds 2 points to your system
3 = This adds 3 points to your system
4 = This adds 6 points to your system

    CPU
If you are using dual cores then add 1 point to your score.
For 256Kb cache -1 to your score.
If you are using an AMD FX-55/57 add 1.
1 = This adds 1 points to your system
2 = This adds 2 points to your system
3 = This adds 4 points to your system
4 = This adds 5 points to your system

    Hard Disk Size
If your HD speed is 10 000 rpm or more then add 1 to your score for this section.
If your use RAID 0 then add another point for this section.
If your Cache is 8MB add 1.
If your HD is SATA add 1.
1 = This adds 1 points to your system
2 = This adds 2 points to your system
3 = This adds 3 points to your system
4 = This adds 4 points to your system

    Sound Card
If you use software sound, add 1.
1 = Do not add any points
2 = This adds 2 points to your system

The max amounts of marks for a system is 30.

This is for those without 3d Mark 05 or those who just want to see how they are compared to everyone else out there.

The reason that i decided to make this poll was just to see how my system compared tho thse of others using BF2. Im sure that there are those out there what feel the same and unless you had 3d Mark 05, then i couldnt really find a way to compare them.

Sandman, the reason that i have only given the FX-55/57 one point is that i think the dual cores will be the way of the furutre and that mroe and more programs will use them to their full advantage, also that they do have their updise, even now, where one processer can take care of the background applications leaving the other to dedtcate its self fully to the game or main application running.

**NOTE** - The scoring has changed, please edit your postes and update your scores. I have taken into account the optios that vjs and sandman have pointed out to me. Thx guys.

This is a decent idea but I can't make sense out of your questions for the life of me.

The ones in the poll? If so, if your hardware falls between the two cards or CPU's etc, then you are in that band. For example. If you gave an AMD 3000+ the you are in band 2 within the CPU section.

              Ok, well I think I'm a 19...yup...19. I also assume that's 2gig or RAM not 20?
              Video 4, RAM 5+1 for DC, CPU 4, HD 4, Sound 1=19.

I didnt downsize anything. Right now I currently have a best buy special from a few years back. The one in my sig is the one I just ordered today. These are the specs:
                      Power Supply ( Enermax EG565P 535 Watt Power Supply [SLI-Ready] )
                      Processor ( [939-pin] AMD® Athlon-64 3700+ CPU w/ Hyper Transport Technology )
Processor Cooling ( Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink + 2 Extra Case Fans )
                      Motherboard ( MSI K8N Neo4-F nForce4 Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0 PCI-E Motherboard )
                      Memory ( 2048 MB [1024MB X2] DDR-400 PC3200 Memory Module Corsair XMS w/ Heat Spreader )
                      Video Card ( [PCI-Express 16x] Nvidia Geforce 6800GT 256MB )
Hard Drive ( 160 GB HARD DRIVE [S-ATA] Western Digital 160 GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Hard Drive )
But according to the scale the way he has it set up, I only get a 16. No SLI, no giant hard drive, no sound card, etc etc. Oh well, doesnt matter cause I know this system is gonna do great!!! And, this isnt a d[ck measuring contest, I am just excited to have a system on the way that will support BF2.

My system is ok as long as it plays BF2 on high.

Support it? That'll run great. Congrats on the new rig and hope you don't have any trouble, looks like you shouldn't. Get ready for all the eye candy

                              Re: Rate Your System

Your list for scoring a computer doesn't make much sence at all...

Let me take HD as an example.

                              If you were using a 2-18G u320 scsi 15K raid-0 I guess it would score a 2. But if I bought the fry 5200 rpm 2mb cache 300G special I'd score a 4?

I think youd have to change that to

                              1- 5200 rpm 2mb cache
                              2- 7200 rpm 2mb cache
                              3- 7200 rpm 8mb cache
                              4- 10000 rpm 8mb cache
                              5- 15000 rpm 8mb cache
                              For raid add +1

Processors are fine but I'd go with
                              <2600xp
                              2800-3000
                              3000-3400
                              3400+
For dual core or multi-p +1
                              For 256Kb cache -1

memory is good +1 for dual channel -1 for sdram

                              Sound (playing without sound?)
                              I think you mean
                              1-software sound
                              2-hardware sound
                              3-Specialty card

alot of onboard sound cards are pretty decent nowadays.

Video I'd make a few more video card selections..
also where would you put the 9800 pro with 256mb?
                              I'd say core then +1 for 512mb -1 for 128MB

Also do you really want the scores for all sections being equal???

If I have the best of everything and a 9250 my machine would play that well.

Don't really see where your going with this.
