High end system goes down to 49fps?

49fps? Whaat? I thought 55-60 would be the minmum.

Im running the demo ALL HIGH 4xAA 1280-1024
Sound is on HIGH

AMD 3800+ VENICE
2GB DUAL CHANNEL PC3200 RAM 2x1GB
7800GTX
ASUS SLI DELUXE
AUDIGY 2 ZS

This aint a brag, i just expected more. Unless im doing something wrong.

Cleared the BF2 cache? Updated punkbuster? For the heck of it, updated drivers?

Have you tried the real game? Real game got somewhat cleaned up @ patch 1.02. Patch 1.03/1.1 is promising to be an optimization patch, but we'll see.

Make sure nothing that could be whoring your memory is running in the background.

Ok, with that setup you should be getting about 70 fps, are you running it with fraps on. Because fraps reduces your fps.

Is your computer clean and newly formatted? Or is it cluttered with junk?

Try removing spyware, viruses also have the capability to slow your system down.

See his last thread, he just got his computer a few days ago or something, not even a week old. I don't think that too many viruses could already be in the system.

Well, there was a little documentary on spyware that i watched, and some guys got over 300 spyware in a little under an hour by just going to lyrics and kids sites. Maybe this guy wanted to sing along with 2pac a little too much.

Nope nope and nope.

No stupid websites. Only in crowded situations it goes down to 49fps, never has gone down below 40 though. Average i would say 60fps. But still, i thought it would be more.

My AMD 64 Venice is running at 2.52Ghz, 2x512MB PC3200 running at 450Mhz, X800XT running at PE speeds. At 1280x960, terrain high, all other medium, texture filtering high an no AA I'm seeing FPS drop to 49 in some situations. While your graphic card is faster the rest of your system is not. To determine if it's your graphic card or your CPU/mem holding you back you should reduce some graphic settings to see if FPS goes up.

Running all on high really pushes your system and high end should refer to the likes of AMD 64 FX-57. Your graphic card is high end though. You could also try running your sound at: Hardware, medium quality and EAX enabled. I'm using those settings on my Audigy 2 (running Audigy 4 software/drivers). There are also new drivers available for the Audigy 2 ZS.

Try running for instance lighting and dynamic shadows on medium to begin with.

My computer (specs in sig) runs around a constant 60 with most settings on high, drops to 40 or 50 in high action scenes, like when theres artillery and lots of action happening. BF2 is - out of all the top end games I have played like FEAR and aoe3 - about the most badly optimized game I have played.

But still, 49fps isn't that bad.. just deal with it.

I get 90+ FPS, and 67FPS minimum in flight or in a combat situation =/

Once you return the BF settings to reasonable levels you will shine. The visual quality between medium and high in regards to Dynamic Shadows and Dynamic Lighting is hardly evident but the performance impact is huge. The video Effects setting can be lowered to medium as well without sacrificing image quality and will yeild better frames during heavy combat and crowded maps.

Run 3d mark to get an accurate idea of your rig against other users.
