Need help upgrading RAM/MOBO

Ok, first off here are my system specs:

Since my question is regarding mobo/ram heres all that info:

Also I got a 9800 PRO 256mb

My question:
I want to upgrade my RAM, was thinking of this one:

But I was told that my motherboard is out of date enough that not only will it only support up to PC2100, but it doesnt support dual channel.

Is this true?

If so what would be a good, cheap motherboard to upgrade to?

I will probably be building a new comp in ~ 12 months (I hope) so I dont want to spend to much. I know it doesnt make to much sense but I just want to get an idea of the money needed to spend to upgrade before I decide if I do it.

Um, if you get a new mobo, you need a new processor and possibly a new vid card because all the nforce 4 mobos that i know are pci-e only. It might not be the best idea to do that, you should just order all new parts in a new case, because upgrading a mobo ain't an easy thing to do, especialy when it's over 2 years old. And that memory is good, but i would reccommend one of these memory stix:

They're all good memory sticks. I woulda found some really high performance memory sticks called balistix, from Crucial, but they don't have it at PC3200.

I am pretty sure anything over 2100 is useless though, so im not sure why I would get that RAM. Same deal w/ dual channel, I dont think I can even use it w/ my current mobo.

But again im not 100% sure, looking for someone to confirm

Yes, for your mobo, if you got PC3200 ram, it would run at PC2100 speeds. Those ram suggestions were for IF you got a new mobo, but i'm just saying, you're probably going to have to get a new cpu+vid card.

It's really cheap for a SLi nforce 4 mobo. MSI makes good mobos, DFI probably makes better ones, but, they are a bit pricey.

Dual channel tested just means that before it left, it was slapped into a board, and checked to make sure there were not conflicts. That is all it means. It is the same memory as normal, only it is tested. Infact I run dual channel in my 2nd machine, and the modules were bought seperately and were not tested together, but run perfectly fine. Of coure, I don't recommend this, but it does work.

You can buy a new motherboard and keep the rest of the stuff. Your P4 is a socket 478 version so when you buy a motherboard make shure you get one with socket 478. Look for support for 533Mhz/800Mhz FSB and dual channel memory. In order to get dual channel to work you need 2 or 4 memory sticks. They have to be paired (2x256MB/2x512MB).
