Hello,

My friend is getting a new computer, and he wants to know that is M-TEC DDR good choice for ram? He is about to buy M-TEC 1GB DDR400 PC3200 CL2.5

M-TEC- 1Gb oem-memory. DDR 400 PC3200 CL2.5. Is it better than Kingston 1024mb PC-3200 DDR400? Because he could get the M-TEC Memory for 210€, and the kingston memory would cost 268€. So is it better or as good as Kingston value ram?

Not heard of that brand before. I tend to stick to a respected brand such as Crucial, Kingston and Corsair. I bought a module branded as Elixar once.....never again.

I would go with Corsair personally, great overclockablility, i just bought 2*512 of Corsair TwinX 3200C2 Pro and tis great, 2:3:3:6 its about £100 pounds thinks thats like $160

They say in the stores that M-TEC makes quality ram. And BTW, what is that ECC? Is it better than non ECC ram? If it is, how much then?

I can't speak for M-TEC as I've never heard of them. Kingston is a very good, reputable name. You'll have to check your motherboard manufacturer and make sure you can run ECC. It's error correction. I always use non ECC

OCZ, muskin (if they're still in the market), and Patriot (if money is a issue) are good ram companies I personally used in the last several years. Never failed me =)

i agree with the other posters, dont get ****ty no name brand ram to save the money, you will regret it. you will most likely end up with blue screens all the time because the ram is so bad (trust me i made that mistake a long time ago, and will never buy no name ram again) just stick with a reputable brand, corsair is my favortie, and kingston is great too, as are some of the other big name brands mentioned here.

Main point if you dont want to read that paragraph: DONT buy no name brand ram, you will regret it forever.
