I just had a question.. if I run a SLi mobo w/ an ATi video card will there be any conflicting problems? I have a ATi card but wanted to upgrade my mobo and save for a 7800gtx later on. Or should I wait for crossfire reaady mobo?

just save up your money, don't even buy a new motherboard. once crossfire comes out, you can see which is better between it and SLi, and go with whichever is better.

if ur going to get a mobo for SLI, might as well buy a Nvidia card for it

Re: nForce mobo w/ ATi card
If your plans are to get a 7800GTX in the future, and you want to use an ATI card for now...you should be ok. I have never put an ATI card in a mobo with SLI PCIE slots. ...your ati card is PCI-E, right?

Re: nForce mobo w/ ATi card
If you plan on going with Nvidia cards buy an SLi board, but if you plan on staying with ATI cards wait for crossfire and buy the appropriate crossfire board instead of 2 Nvidia cards. I know...that sounds fanboy. Sorry.Originally posted by gsxr310I just had a question.. if I run a SLi mobo w/ an ATi video card will there be any conflicting problems? Yah I should wait then huh? I'm one of those people that doesn't like waiting.
But I'll wait for the crossfire then. Thanks alot! Oh yah, should I wait for ATi's new R520..? or get a x850PE?

Re: nForce mobo w/ ATi card
While the R520 will be better than the X850PE, the X850 should drop in price a decent amount after the release of the R520, and the X850 is still a good card.

Re: nForce mobo w/ ATi card
Hell, I'm happy with what I have now. I'd be very pleased with 2 X800XL's in Crossfire. The price of that chip will be dropping even more, but the question is: What's the price of a Crossfire Mobo and Crossfire X800 Crossfire card going to be?

Re: nForce mobo w/ ATi card
Crossfire will be more afordable to you because it will require only 1 new video card be purchased, and 1 new motherboard. Versus 1 motherboard and 2 cards for SLi.
Crossfire and the R520s are just around the corner, hang in there, and you will be pleased with the out come.
