Windows XP

I dont think this is the right forum, but I am not sure as to where I can go, and there seems to be lots of smart computer people on here.

Anyways, I just got a new copy of XP Pro w/ SP2 from microsoft yesterday. I bought it to put on my new system. So, I put the new XP disk in the drive, reboot, and boot from CD. Everything goes well, until i get an error. "setup needs SP2 files". I press OK, same error. So just click can. and it continues to install. When the setup and register screens are done, it restarts and boots to windows XP. However, it does not look like windows xp. It looks like windows 2000. blue screen and old icons. I try to get on the internet and nothing. It is almost as if half of the program was installed. Nothing seems to work on this new OS. I re install about 5 times before it actually boots to Windows XP. Has this happened to anyone b4? Anyway of preventing this for next time i need to reinstall?

Sounds like your XP cd is screwed, id take it back ask for a replacement, that shouldnt of really happend

After the 5th time it finally worked. I think I should email microsoft.

Thats odd, i had a problem with my Home disk on my laptop a while ago, same problem as yours so I just took my CD back and they gave me a new one

lol. I got a program I can use from work. They emailed me back in like 30 minutes. I need to call some tech line now.

Naaaaa... Go to the store and ask for a brand new CD.
But the fact of some hardware problem shouldn't be apart, if u can try in a mate's comp. for sure.
