    6800GT Problem

Im soon to get a 6800GT since we all know that BF2 is a very system hungry game but the RECOMMENDED PSU for a 6800GT is i think 350W and i have a standard dell 305W and i was wandering if anyone knew if dell or anyone else made a Power Supply to fit my tower? I've looked everywhere on the internet and just cant find it.

Try going to Newegg.com and getting a custom PSU. Get one with at least 400W and the +12V rail should be AT LEAST 18 amps minimum.

I am with snake, minimum of 400 watts. Also, unless you have some really funky case, PSU's are generic in size, and will fit into any ATX case.

You people do know that standard ATX power supplies aren't compatible with DELL systems...
Not without modifying the case anyway afaik.

i just found the right 6800GT for me its a LEADTEK and it has a heatsink and fan since these cards seem to get a wee bit warm and but i will need a big new PSU after modding my dell 4700 case and then get some system fans cuz as it is here in arkansas, its a bit too warm right now to do anything since im at 117 degrees F everyday. cant wait till winter when its cool inside. but here is the link for this awesome new 6800GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...C-pr1c3grabb3r

its also at a really good price since its even got a heatsink and fan

if you have a dell then you are going to have a tough problem fitting the the 6800gt. i have a dell 8300 and when i got my 6800gt the thing would not go in properly, because the dell boxes have this green colored hatch of some kind that goes over all cards after they are placed on the motherboard, and 6800gt is a big card and it will fit but the hatch willnot properly close and in that will kame the card dangle and move about as its running, which is not a good thing, so becarefull when you install the card, because i had to break off the plastic hatch.

I have a 8250 Dell Dimension. When I upgraded to a BFG 6800 GT I had to purchase a particular PSU from PC Power & Cooling in California. Otherwise, you will need to modify a standard ATX psu unit.

Becareful there, manufacturers play with the numbers to make the unit sound good. Check the 12v rail on the $30 PSU, I'd bet the house it's no more than 15A. It's probably 13A.
