Can't get high res - suggestions please?

I find that if I turn on anti-aliasing or increase the resolution above 1024 x 768, the video quality improves as I crank it up but the response time in the game slightly deteriorates - just enough to get killed easier or a little annoying when I want to click on something as commander, for example - the cursor doesn't move as fast as it should. The reason for this is obvious but I would think my specs are good enough that I wouldn't need to play at 1024 x 768 with no anti-aliasing. I'm too much of a noob to know how to overclock the graphics card (and frankly I'd rather not try) but does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? My specs:
    - Intel 3.0 CPU
    - 1 mb RAM
    - ATI X700 Pro

    Thanks,

What are each of your graphics settings set to?

Keep dynamic lighting and shadows at low and you should find that you can tweak with the resolution and other settings, and maybe even get 2X AA.

Well, AA is an fps killer, and with that rig you're looking at med/high w/no AA and no shadows or lighting for good gameplay. I'd stick with 1024x768 and the above mentioned settings. Higher resolutions will tax a video card, and throw in AA and forget about it. You need a pretty decent system to run this game w/ AA at 1280x1024(968).
