    Nvidia to Ati.....

Just a few questions for those w/ Ati Radeon's X850 pro or higher. I have always had Nvidia and just switched to ATI. So i know nothing about the cards, except that the price for what i got was very appealing! I already got the max clock off the card by using ATI Tray Tool, Is there anything else i should be aware of as far as settings to get the most outta the card? It took me about 6 hrs to dial it in pretty good. So far i am very pleased. Also, what is my max temp for the card?

    Rig Specs:
    P4 2.6 Northwood HT OC'ed to 2.8 (Zalman 7000/52c Load)
    2 Gig's Corsair 3200 XMS Matched OC'ed to CPU
Abit Ic7-G MaxII w/activate NB cooling
Intel 80 gig Ultra ATA storage
    ATI Radeon X850 clock 525/585
    Maddog 500w psu
    Antec Lanboy Case

LOL, why did you buy a x850? That was probably the biggest lost of money. How much money did you spend? You didn't even get a x850xt PE. That card can't even use Shadermodel 3.0. It's a real shame.

Just in case none of you know... That's an AGP board. Nvidia was too lazy to release an AGP version of the 7800 series. Booo.

As for settings, play with them and see what you like. You won't need to worry about the max temp unless you have horrible airflow.

First of all G-Money, my 6800 went down and i needed a card. Not a top of the line card for $500.00 But a card for $250.00 until price of top card's drop. Secondly i didnt ask for anyone's opinion on my purchase, i asked those who already have the card. But besides what you call a dropped low end card is pulling high settings on 60-90+ fps. Remember some people have families and cant spend a ridiculous amount.(and dont need to spend $400.00 on a card) I'm lucky i get away with what i do. So please a little assistance is all i need, and i've backed you up on other posts...........

Thanks Panda.attack!!! By the way, i still cant believe my graphics, i am pleasantly surprised. Comp USA GAVE me a warranty for $25.00 for 3 yrs. NO questions on damage (just short of being cut in half, LOL) But if they dont have an equal replacement, i get the next upper model! That is cool.

Ok? Is a 6800gt 400 dollars? I think not. It has Shader model 3.0, which you don't have, my card is just as good as a regular x850. So you made the dumb ass mistake so live with it. Go play a game with shader model 3.0, like the Age Of The Empires 3 demo, you don't get any nice effects so thats a damn shame.

Don't mind his immature posts. The x850 is a damn nice card, u already overclocked it so there's nothing much else to say. That's basically all I did with my x800xtpe and it was a SWEET card. Congrats!

No, the x850xt PE is a sweet card, not the normal x850 it's lame. Sorry you did downgrade your card.

                      Not a downgrade going from reg 6800 128mb to a X850 pro 256mb.
Either your mistaken in your specs of my gear which is understandable, or your blatently an idiot. Unfortunately i cannot post screens, the manage attachments has something wrong w/ it. LISTEN to what im saying, again!
My 6800 went down (it died!), I didnt want to be without a computer for a couple of days, and didn't want to spend a fortune on a high-end not so worth it 6800gt, which was $350.00. So i got the ATI Radeon X850 Pro 256mb for $250.00 and paid an extra $25.00 for a 3 yr. no questions asked warranty.
NOW FOR MY ORIGINAL QUESTION! Anybody (not G-Money, not senor ding dong, and not nitemare) who has this card or others like it, can you give me some advice on setting up the card or hints.....Thankyou!

Everybody else needs to keep your fingers from discussing a card you dont have. Thank You

There is no way that going from a 6800 to a 850pro is a downgrade...woohooo for nvidia fanboys :p

I'd say you're doing good after overclocking it. I'd say go enjoy it now, I'm jealous

If he went from a vanilla 6800 to the x850pro, that's an upgrade. In my opinion, all is well as long as you get playable frames at decent quality. Think of the people who are stuck with older cards.

Well said. If you're getting decent FPS's why push the card? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

X850 was my first choice...so be happy!
