    Lower Latency vs. More Memory

Sorry folks - can't find the specific answer to this one the forum...

1GB memory with 2.5 CAS latency

    ---OR---

1.5GB memory with 3.0 CAS latency

For the purposes of playing BF2, which is better?

By the way---I can play on High settings with the former but have not tried the latter. Yes I said "High", even with the 128 graphics card (lucky config I guess since I am not too much of a techie)

    P4 3.0
    Radeon 9800PRO (128)
    PC3200 DDR 400mhz

    Thanks in advance

The CAS won't make that big of a difference at all. If you get 1.5GB of cheap ram it will defiantly outperform the 1.0GB... :)

Yeah, i mean high performance memory (Corsair XMS, Crucial Ballistix) will outperform value memory if they are both the same amount of memory. But raw MB will beat high performance memory.

i recommend low latency as one pc i have is 3.0 and this one (my sig) is 2.5 and it doesnt suffer from stutter as bad!!!

Take the ram out of your other computer and put it in the one you are using. Playing BF2 on all high settings causes some studdering, I've tried it. There's no reason you should have studdering with your system, you just need more than a gig of ram.

more ram but slightly higher CAS > less ram with very low CAS.

1gb = fine, unless you're using a high end card, then you need more than 1gb of ram.
