New Heat Sink (XP-90)....no change in temperature?

I installed my new XP-90 (with Arctic Silver Ceramique) and Thermaltake Silent Cat last night and I have yet to see a change in CPU temperature. With the stock fan and heat sink I was idling between 35-37C and maxing out 42-43C (no overclocking). Should I see an immediate change in temperature or does the Arctic Silver need to cure? Is there a special procedure to get the paste to cure (ie letting it cool with the computer off)?

Maybe the stock fan was just as efficient or the case isn't exhausting the hot ambient air well. You'd see a change immediately if the processor fan was insufficient.

I also added two 80mm fans, one intake and one exhaust. If anything, its seems like the computer cools faster after max usage.

Hmm....those numbers aren't really that bad at all. I'm not sure why there's no difference.

Use speed fan. It measures fan speeds and temps inside the case.

My motherboard has a program that does this.

              SoCal,

Are you overclocking? Maybe the temps will decrease when you try and overclock when compared to your old HSF

I am planning on overclocking, but I haven't yet so I won't have a comparison. I wanted to get the proper cooling in place before I overclocked. I think I will go ahead and overclock, but I would have liked to see a decrease in temps with the new heat sink.

Well dont worry, you have definatly got sufficent cooling.

Overclock to a 3800+ (2.4GHZ) and the temps should stay under 40C.

The stock AMD HSF for the 64 bit line was/is extremely effecient and one of the best ones they have ever delivered. But you should see a change of between 3 to 5*C after the AS has properly set in. It can take up to a week for AS to reach max heat transfer.

Your temps are good now and you will have room to OC after the thermal paste binds.

The heatsink/fan combo will take 100 hours to be properly boneded to the CPU.
