Ide And Sata?

Hi guys, not many things i can't slove myself but this is one of them. I bought a Seagate 80gb Sata 7,200rpm today. Ive already got a seagate IDE 40gb running my Os, a IDE WD 80gb storing my files. And ive bought this new HD to run my game files, especially bf2.

Ive installed the HD and my bios does see it, windows sees it in the RAID tools and device manager, working fine there, no driver problems or other.

BUT!

When i go into "my computer".......Its no there.. Im wondering what to do as the device manager does see it working fine...? Help needed please!

I have a SATA drive for games too, did it come with a utility disk? The utility will find it and format it for you. Otherwise you can download one that works within Windows from Maxtor. I guarantee that's the issue, I had the identical problem.

Hmm, but i have a Seagate? Where can i find the maxtor one, and will it work with the seagate format ok?

(P.S) Off topic, where did you get your TotalBf2 stats from? where on the site?

Yeah. It'll work with any harddrive. I'll search for it and a Seagate specific one now. Brb. Click on my stats it'll take you to the site.

http://support.seagate.com/dwregister here ya go man. This is exactly what you need. Just fill in the appropriate info and it'll take you to the download page. It's from www.seagate.com and its called DiskWizard for Windows. This is a Windows based application that will format and allow Windows to recognize new Sata HDs. Good Luck.

Oh, ive never come acorss that, but im thinking its got nothing to do with RAID. I think its the format issues. I mean it obviously hasn't been formatted as its new.

Yeah, I'd bet the house on it being not formatted. Just use the software from the link I provided and you'll be good to go in no time. When formating choose NTFS not FAT as your file type, when prompted.

Or just right-click My Computer, select Manage, and go into Disk Management and format the drive from there, much easier than using third party tools.

This is true, but I never trust windows to do anything itself. Atleast not properly, but that will work too.
