Re: New computer orderd, what you think?

Lol, My dad is buying it, and trust me it took alot of convincing mursht.

Well, I think im going to stick with a 3800+ and 7800gtx, But the idea of a FX53 (4000+) Is pleasing. Im using a 17inch so the 7800gtx wont use its full power.

Im going to call up and see how much cheaper an 4000+ and 7800gt is.

    Thanks for replys.

The 4000+ is only another $50. If you're buying all that gear then I'd definitely splurge a measley $50.

Because its that fast. Any processor will bottleneck the 7800gtx.

It wont use its full potiential at 17inch max resolutions YET, but in the future yes.

Prince, you have got a beautiful setup! Whats your FPS?

thats a smokin rig ur gettin there. i just helped my mate build a similar comp of slightly lower specs to that.
gigabyte sli mobo, 3500+, 1Gig ram (he wants 2 now tho), gigabyte 7800gt, Maxtor 160Gb HD, creative 7.1 speakers, 17" monitor and some extras for just less than yours, which makes sence, and damn his rig is fast.

My other friend on the other hand payed £2000 for an alienware (just the tower). 4400+ x2, 1 gig ram, 160 Gb HD, dual 6600GT's, Audigy Zs etc. i've spent many an hour laughing about that.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ gets the same FPS with a 7800GTX that a FX-57 with 7800GTX. Do some research before you go on saying false information. Not every processor will bottleneck the 7800GTX.

Btw, don't get a 4000 and 78GT, that's just stupid. You don't need the 4000, and I would much rather have the GTX than a little faster processor that isn't even needed for BF2.

No way am I going all out!!!!!! Never will i spend more than £1300 on a computer. They become too slow too soon. I'd rather keep it safe, buy mid-range products and enjoy it!

Im also going to try and overclock the 3800+ to 2.6GHZ (FX55 speed). Wont have the same performance because of the smaller cache but should be good!

That makes no sense. Just because one game MAY support it doesn't mean others are going to.

How long have dual processor systems been around now? Quite a while. I remember hearing the exact same thing when I built my Dual 1.0ghz P3 system a while ago. Never happened and probably never will.

64bit tech is the only technology i can see being incorporated into games.
