should i buy 6800 256 mb ???

hi guys

i am considering to buy the 6800 256 mb pci-e from XFX

because i play now with my 6600 GT 128 pcie on low/med for 60 FPS

i have amd 64 3200 2,2 ghz

1 GB ram corsair select

6600 GT

my settings are ,
low
low
med
med
med
off
off
low
no AA

then i get in 64 server 40 - 60 FPS and when i turn ( look quick to right or left ) i get a small laggy , so i die in close combat

so when i buy 6800 256 can i get everything on med with good FPS ??

i cant buy a 6800 GT because of finance

I would say that before upgrading your GFX card you should get another gig of ram. Would probably help out a lot in your case :)

yeah once you do that, then you can get a 6800, this is the card i have and recommend it.

Yeah going from 6600gt to a 6800nu isn't really worth it. Just buy another gig of ram, and save up some more money for a 6800gt or better.

i ahve 2 gigs of ram and a 6800gt and i play all high 1280x960 with 4xaa and at 60+fps.

and another question does the 6800gt support cinefx4.0 like the 7800 series

Get the 7800 GT, not GTX. Its almost the same price as a 6800 ultra.

Well, the 7800 series costs like at least 150 bucks more, depends if you wanna spend that money, i think you should hit max with the 6800GT. But you'll have to replace in like 2-3 years, the next gen (i mean the 7800 series, most people are still buying cards like X800 series and 6800 series) don't provide the performance boost of the current cards and last gen cards. You see more than triple the performance in comparison from the 9800 PRO and the X850XTPE.

I think you will find there is hardly any difference between the 6600GT and 6800 256, especially with BF2, probably 1FPS. One thing is that the 6800 256 runs its ram at 600 mhz compared to the stock 700/750 mhz of the 128MB AGP model. Stick with the 6600GT or get the 6800GT. Extra ram will help a little but not by much at your settings.

but the geforce 6 series and x series were a huge advancement in technology


the was little difference between a geforce 5 5900
and a 9700 pro which was the gen before
maybe 20% at best

i doubt we can expect such a leap this time looks to be around 1/3 to 1/2

Definately start with the RAM upgrade, i doubt i new GFX will help the lagg but the memory will for sure, i have 2gb it runs sweets!
