Still can,t run on high settings

I just bought a new system (see below) and I thought I would be able to run bf2 on all high settings, but it won't. I have the first three settings on high but the rest are medium with 2xaa. I get stuttering throughout the game but i'm still getting between 50 and 80 fps and the audio stutters aswell. I know users who are using a 6800gt and still playing on high. So is it a problem with the 7800gtx, memory or bf2......... Please help

Re: Still can,t run on high settings

You need 2 GB of RAM to run on all high settings.

This may change in the 1.03 patch.

Maybe u might wanna get a bigger hard drive as well, i got a 250GB hard drive for 125 bucks on newegg.com, they're real cheap now, too much used space on a hard drive isn't good for a computer. Anyways, 1GB of OCZ ram is fine, i use on gig for Corsair Value Select and that doens't stop me from running max settings, and BTW, do you playon 64 player servers, 32 player, or 16 player servers?

It is good to play on 16 or 32 player servers...I tend to stay away from the 64 player servers as they are so laggy :hmm:
If you keep having issues I would say you should upgrade your RAM to 2GB and you should be fine

Maybe you already have done this, but when you say "new system"- did you build it or did you purchase the finished product? I would go through the hardware profiles and make sure all new drivers are installed. 1 gig of ram will run the game, but with laggy loads and the first 20 sec being choppy, but because of your processor and vid card you should be able to run all on high.
I spent 4+ hours the other night installing a new mobo into new case and transferring everything over w/ new bios and then tweaking and dialing everything in. This also included installing all new drivers and getting them to work together. There is always new bugs in a new system, be patient and run through all the menu's to make sure there are no leftover's.

But you should get another gig of Ram and make sure it matches your existing ram specs......
As far as sound, do you have sound card? Drop the settings to med or low if you have too, onboard sound usually sucks, so get a card if you need one......

Re: Still can,t run on high settings

WTF. this has nothing to do with the harddrive or the ram.,....... THE RAM is perfect.... if i can run it on high with 2xAA 1260x 960 he should be able to do so also.....

This is a really strange problem... maybe its the onboard sound.... try disableing that....

Do u use DSL, or Cable, or t1, t2, or t3 (the newest, and the fastest, only corporate businesses have it now, if you're running a t3, i wonder why you havn't been fired yet).

yes I am using onboard sound but I have no other card, Set at medium in game cuz I have no room for fancy speakers. My internet conection is dsl. Maybe its a driver prob cuz I just instaled 78.11 and it seems to be better. BTW I built this myself but I think i've tweeked everything.

STOP al you need is either a 512 stick of ram or another gig it will eliminate these problems end of story.

Re: Still can,t run on high settings

Here is another thread where I ask WHY do you want to run everything on High? For you, the fun in BF2 must be in the sway of the Trees, and Tea at sunset. For me, it is lying in a place I know you won't see me because all your settings are on High. That being said, and it is only my opinion; running this game properly on Max Settings can be challenging for all but the Best Systems. I'm not a T3ch, just know other players personally, with similiar or better systems than mine that can't achieve Max Performance without sacrificing something. IMO, without having to spend more $$$, the biggest improvement would come from AAx2 to OFF.

"Antialiasing: The options here are Off, 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x. When enabled, Antialiasing (AA) smooths the appearance of jagged lines, something which BF2 has plenty of. The higher the level of Antialiasing (i.e. 2x, 4x, etc.), the greater the negative performance impact in return for better image quality. For more details and examples see my Simple Antialiasing and Anisotropic Guide. Using Antialiasing correctly is covered in the Troubleshooting Tips section above, but basically it involves disabling any forced Antialiasing in your graphics card's control panel, and then selecting it here if you want to enable it. For most people I recommend setting this option to Off for optimal performance as it can have a major negative impact if enabled."

seriously i think people have gone absolutly insane! ALL YOU NEED IS 2GIGS listen please do not do this crap that people say "oh put some things on medium its bf2" "turn off AA" no you have a great system its just bf2 requires alot of ram so 2 gigs will fix your problem.
