whats the difference between these cores if i dont plan to overclock my
3800+?

i can find the newcastle core for a lower price


also if i only have 1 stick of 1gb pc3200 ddr ram will this be reduced to pc2700 speeds?

Venice is the newer, faster and better core. You got to pick that one.

Venice is the best core for the lowerspeed Athlon 64, for the higher speeds, venice ain't eveen there, the San Diego core owns all, but it's only availible in the higher speeds like 4000+ or higher.

San Diego is for 3500+ and up, though the 3500+ version has only 512KB cache (like Venice and all others), the 3700+ and up have a 1MB cache.

Get a Venice if you are buying a 3000+ or a 3200+...

if you already have 2700 ram then yes it will run slow, and it all depends on your system with how far you can overclock it, just google it and you will find posts on forums with results

you can overclock just about everything. im not to familiar with the 3800's and so on but i know that a 3200 venice will oc like crazy. mines a winchester and its at 4000+ speeds minus the 1mb cache.

3700+ would most likely go to 4200+ speeds, perhaps even higher, depending upon the cooling.
