New Psu?

if i were to buy a new psu could my stuff work better as of right now i have a generic 400 watt psu with my stuff in my sig, i think its probably not even running at 400 cuase i have no idea what kind it is so i was wondering if i got like a good 450 or something would this help?

buy a tagan, enermax or antec 450w or more PSU.

It might help with crashing.

thermaltake makes good power supplies too. i have a 420W thermaltake silent purepower(its not silent though so dont expect that, but its really not loud) that came with my xaser iii case. it runs a geforce 6800, 3 hard drives, 2 cd drives, a RAID Controller, 7 case fans, a 92mm vantec tornado processor fan, plus a fan controller with temperature alert/display. I have no crashing problems like i did with a ****ty power supply i used to have(i even had one power supply that my computer killed as soon as i turned it on :laugh:).

lucky for you it also happens to be on sale for labor day @ $36 on newegg. if you are on a somewhat tight budget get it, if not and you have a hundred dollars to blow on a really good power supply then by all means do that.

Check your voltages using Everest Home Edition. +/-5% is usually pretty good.

I have an Aspire PSU and it is good. If you have to upgrade, I would recommend either Enermax or Thermaltake.

Um, look at your +12v rail(s), if they are total maximum at 22 amps or higher that's good already, dual+12v rails are great though, heres some good PSUs:

It's a great PSU, with dual+12v rails at 17amps each, it's a hot deal as you can see, always buy from a trusted brand, generic is never good.

Thermaltake supplies are pretty good in the quality department.
However they tend to pump extra amps onto the 5 volt rail to inflate thier specs.

Yeah, a 2+12v rails, one rated at 15a, and one at 18a, it's pretty good. If you look at Antec's site, the call it industrial grade, and one magazine called it a Kick-as* product.

Ok I just got it from newegg well it's still not here yet. Next thing I have to upgrade is my CPU and i'm done with this computer.

Um, if you're getting a AMD you have to get a new mobo, and chances are, you need to get a new mobo for your intel processor anyways, i'm pretty sure the old ones are a 478 pin mobo, but the new ones are LGA755 or something like that, make sure you get one with the right compatiblity to your mobo, if it's not compatiable, i would consider getting a AMD with a new mobo instead of getting a Intel with a new mobo. AMD is better at gaming, Intel is better at office applications, but AMD Athlon 64 X2 beats even the Intel Dual core at office applications, and gaming! But they're like 400 bucks each at min.:p
