Estimated life span of an overclocked processor?

Based on your experience, what do you think is the average life span of an overclocked processor? I know there are a lot of variables here but let's say a moderate overclocking with sufficient cooling.

Less than it would if not overclocked. Really depends on so many things it would be impossible to say based on little to no info of the chip in question.

Moderate overclocking with adequate cooling won't shorten the life span any faster than the CPU will become obsolete. If you increase the core voltage, that is a different story.

Ok...how 'bout my chip? :) What would be considered a moderate overclock for my 3500+?

Bingo, a non overclocked processor may last 15 years, overclocked may be 7, but most people aren't going to use a 7 year old processor. (I'm just pulling those numbers out of my ass, you get the point though.)

I believe the 3500 runs at 2.2Ghz (correct me if I am wrong). Moderate overclocking would be 2.3-2.6Ghz.
