AMD 64 3200 overclock help.

Im trying to overclock this CPU but i need help dont know what im doing. i checked on the internet and they said it can go up to 2.8 ghz and stock is 2ghz. what software should i use?

btw my motherboard is MS 6741 senix technology

You don't use software, and don't expect 2.8Ghz. Especailly on that VIA chipset.

Just use your BIOS to overclock and make sure you follow that thread and have proper cooling.

Not even 2.5 is likely on a VIA chipset.

should i buy a better motherboard?

and if so which one? i have a socket 754. and i live in canada so no newegg ****

For overclocking your probably going to want to go with a DFI / Abit / MSI Motherboard, those seem to be the most overclocking friendly.

Also, you cant pinpoint on how far you can overlock everyones system is different it all depends on CPU/MoBo/RAM/FSB/Chipsets/etc

the average overclock for my 3000 venice is 2.7 but i cant hit that because of my stock cooling, but just read the guides on how to do it

my board is a dfi lan party ut...many little settings in the bios that i really dont know much about...but the consensus is that it overclocks real well...i juss experimented a bit read little of guides...make sure to monitor stuff alot and you should be good my temps with a zalman fan...are like idle-33-35 load is like 40 ish...took me awhile to get to 2.5 ghz though as im using corsair value select..which holds me back with better ram id defiately score on getting 2.6...

i remember on stock cooling i had to underclock the frequency of my ram to get just 2.4 ghz on 3200

Ocing is not a exact science. It's all about making small changes and adjustment, testing, and testing again. Sure somebody may run that 3000 at 9x245 but another can't get 9x210. Just study, study, study before attempting it. I had an Athlon 64 3000+ that is said will OC to 2.5,2.6, even 2.7 but I couldn't get the damn thing above 2.2 stable on an Asus A8n NForce4 Mobo. It's dependant on voltage stability, RAM, Chipset and many other factors. Don't expect to get what everyone else gets. Just make small changes and keep testing.

nitemare i pretty much have the same setup but 3000+ drop your htt to 3x up the voltage to 1.45 then do the thing that mulitplies it to 1.6ish, bump up ram to 2.85 volts, scale the ram down to 100mzhz, and do 250ish x 9 and you should get a nice overclock
right now im at 280x9
