I just an Abit Ic7-g MaxII and installed into Antec LanBoy Aluminum case- w/ P4 2.6 northwood HT. Has anyone ever overclock this processor? I googled online but couldnt get any GOOD links. Thanks!

P4s are a bitch to overclock. Your Northwood maybe alright but heat is always an issue so keep a close eye on that.
Abit has a utility called "uGuru" I'm not sure as though it will work with your motherboard but its worth a try. It allows you to monitor temps, fan speeds, voltages, allows you to flash BIOs directly in Windows safely, and also allows you to OC your system. -

I have a ic7-g max2 with a northwood 3.0c oc'd to 3.2 (for now)
you should have no problems OC'ing that chip. :)
the abit forums usually has the best information:
also check out: Starter’s guide to overclocking the IC7 series mobos .
The only issue you may have is needing better cpu cooling. I went with a thermalright xp90"Crunch's First Officer"

Just be glad you don't have a Prescott like me. My CPU idels at 50*C with an Artic Cooling Freezer7 on that bad boy. Its really sad. Its quite possible the worst core ever invented for a CPU.Comment

Thank you! I actually picked up that utility, the Bios is very user friendly, and have started to OC. It was 2.6 now is 2.86, w/ core temp holding at 51c-51c under heavy load, i ran Prime95 all night no issues, I plan to go to 3.0 tonight lol.Originally posted by KingOfKhaosComment
