Faster load time upgrade: memory or hard drive?

Which of these items would make for faster load times (based on my current specs)?

Im gonna say probably the raptor, but if your thinking of spending $180 on ram, get the 74gig raptor. sometimes its on sale at newegg for $155. :)

The 74 gig raptor is also a lot faster than the 34 gig.

Well, depends, if you got a jam packed hard drive or an empty one. They're both the same when empty, and there's a 32 gig one, not 34 gig. ANd Memory is going to give you better load times. And if your current memory isn't already Corsair XMS, don't bother buying it, and make sure you have 2x512mb sticks now, cause then you can run dual channel on 4 sticks of memory, if you have a 1 gig stick, only get another gig, 3 sticks won't allow dual channel. And getting XMS memory when the other memory sticks are like value select kinda slows ya down to if yu had new sticks of value selects than if it were new XMS. Make sure it's the exact same model, or else it could bottleneck your performance a bit.

well my 74 gig x2 raptors certainly help but i think its the memory which is the key to quick load times...

hard to say when i have 2 gig and 2 raptors :p but im pretty sure the 2 gig of ram is making the real difference in loadings times.

I get into bf2 in about... mmm... 10 to 20 seconds

Ok, in that case go for the extra 2x512mb XMS sticks. You'll have one fast maachine with that much mem.

I'm tryin to talk my mom into buying me another 1 GB Stick of Corsair Value Select. I have 1 GB Stick and then I have 2x512, I know the dual channel doesn't run, but it will if I get another 1 GB stick right? The 2 1gb and then the 2 512s?

I wouldn't reccomend mix/ matching memory.

You're going to want two 1 gb sticks.

It depends on what timings your ram has now. If they are really loose then you will see a diference buying faster ram. The corsairs you posted have 2-2-2-5 latency which is very good. The raptor is faster anyway you take it but I have heard people who had good HDs before it say that the diference isnt anything to cry about.

2GBS and 2 Raptors RAID 0
I just went to 2gbs like a month ago and I must say it made a huge difference. 1 raptor is already fast, the ram helped me out alot. Now all I need is a faster CPU
I used to have lag during the 1st min of gameplay now there is none with 2gbs
Also 2gbs makes sure ur the 1st like 6 peps to load the level.

Memory is definitely the way to go for load times. I don't have a phenominal rig but I'm generally one of the first guys out there. Hell sometime I can get halfway to the first flag before anyone else spawns on some maps. This after I upgraded to 2 Gigs.

my dumbass mobo doesnt even let you use 3 sticks its either 1 2 or 4 and i got 4 512 sticks all in dual channel.
